Intervista esclusiva a Gus Greensmith: “Debuttare in WRC, è il mio sogno!”
Bella ed emozionante chiacchierata col pilota inglese di M-Sport
Talento da vendere e guida raffinata. Con questi termini mi sento in dovere di descrivere un pilota che farà parlare molto di se. Stiamo parlando del giovane britannico Fergus “Gus” Greensmith, classe 96, giovane pupillo di Wilson in M-Sport e fresco di una vittoria da incorniciare al Rally di Monte Carlo portandosi a casa i primi punti in WRC2 Pro, capace di impressionare i team e non solo già negli anni precedenti concludendo delle gare strepitose su tutte quelle al Rally del Messico della stagione 2018.
Tuttavia, abbiamo deciso di fare quattro chiacchiere con lui per sapere un po’ come è iniziata la stagione e sugli eventi imminenti del suo programma stagionale.
Ciao Gus. Al Monte Carlo è arrivato un risultato storico per te, primo di WRC2 Pro e settimo assoluto. Come hai preparato la gara e come ti senti dopo questa ottima prestazione?
Ciao David. E’ stata una prova da manuale. Ho spinto quando era necessario, ed ho controllato la guida quando ce n’era bisogno. Monte Carlo non fa sconti, mi sono assicurato di ricordarlo durante la gara
Neanche il tempo di riposare che tra 15 giorni c’è il rally di Svezia, farete dei test sulla neve?
I test per il Rally di Svezia sono limitati, sicuramente abbiamo ancora molto da imparare e da migliorare. Ciononostante, ho una grande squadra intorno a me e so per certo che faremo una buona gara.
In Portogallo debutterai sulla Ford Fiesta WRC Plus. Una bellissima opportunità costruita grazie agli ottimi risultati ottenuti in queste stagioni
Debuttare in WRC è il mio sogno. Farò del mio meglio, ne sono sicuro
Hai molti ammiratori e tifosi anche in Italia, quest’anno sarà l’anno buono per vederti correre nel nostro paese?
E’ sorprendente quanti messaggi di sostegno ho ricevuto dai fans in Italia, questo significa molto e posso dire per certo che gareggerò in Italia quest’anno.

1- Hi Gus. A Monte Carlo a historical result has arrived for you, 1st at WRC2 Pro and 7th absolute. As you have prepared the competition and as you feel yourself after this good performance?
Hi David. It was a textbook performance. I pushed whe I needed too. I controlled when I needed too. Monte Carlo takes no prisoners, I made sure i kept this in the back of my mind throughout the rally
2- Not even the time to the rest that in 15 days there is Rally of Sweden, will you make some tests on the snow?
Our testing for Rally of Sweden is very limited. We will have a lot to learn & improve on. But I have a great team around me and I feel we can do well.
3- In Portugal you will debout on Ford Fiesta WRC Plus. A beautiful built opportunity thanks to the good results gotten in these seasons.
Making my debout in WRC is my dream. I will make the most of it, that’s for sure
4- You also have many fans and admirers in Italy, will this year be the good year to see to race you in our country?
It’s surprising how many positive messages I receive from fans in Italy, it means a lot and I can say for sure that I will be racing in Italy this year.
