10, 100, 1000 Colin Clark per dare ai rally un futuro

Ci interroghiamo ogni giorno sullo stato attuale dei rally, alla disperata ricerca di una soluzione che possa garantire un futuro al nostro amato sport. Lo vediamo arrancare, invecchiare, perdersi, nel rimpianto e nella nostalgia dei fasti di un tempo. Facciamo sempre più fatica a pensare a cosa ne sarà di lui tra qualche anno.

Pensiamo ai regolamenti. Pensiamo ai media. Pensiamo ai piloti e ai copiloti. Pensiamo a qualunque cosa e nulla ci sembra funzionare davvero.

Eppure c’è un uomo, che di rally ne mastica un po’ da diverso tempo, che il seme del futuro dei rally lo pianta ogni giorno.

Si chiama Colin Clark, è scozzese, ed è uno dei nomi di punta di Dirtfish.

Nella bio del suo profilo Twitter si presenta così:

Vlogger, editorialista, presentatore, intervistatore, commentatore, analista e supponente scozzese. Fondamentalmente ho una visione di tutto ciò che riguarda i rally. Opinioni mie.

In centrocinquanove caratteri spiega l’essenza di quel che credo avrebbe senso fare nel parlare di rally. Offrire una visione, con l’obiettivo di informare i tifosi di oggi, costruendo gli appassionati di domani. 

Cercare caratteri particolari e sfaccettature che facciano del racconto di rally qualcosa di interessante, aldilà di qualche passaggio spettacolare che interessante lo è per natura ma che è materia di chi i i rally già ha avuto modo di conoscerli. Raccontare i rally più per il contorno che per l’aspetto sportivo in sé per sottolinearne la dimensione umana più genuina.

Lo seguivo quando i rally li guardavo, lo osservo ora che i rally cerco di raccontarli e resto affascinato dalla sua capacità di vedere oltre. Di trasformare un semplice contorno nella vera essenza del racconto. Con leggerezza sì ma, senza superficialità. Trovando sempre la chiave più semplice e diretta per dire le cose, anche quando non sono facili da dire, arrivando al pubblico e valorizzando i contenuti in modo intelligente e sempre dal lato dei fans.

Un esempio? Eccolo. Raccontando di Fourmaux, del suo primo approccio con la terra messicana, con i piedi al bordo di una strada e non il culo appoggiato in una sala stampa.

Semplice? Sicuramente sì. Scontato? No di certo, considerato il modus operandi di tanti a cui viene affidato lo stesso compito di divulgare la bellezza dei rally nel mondo. Il culo immerso nei rally e non su una comoda seduta dentro una sala stampa. Per scovare tutta la bellezza che c’è in un evento meraviglioso, lungo diversi giorni, durante i quali tutto può succedere.

Anche quello di poter “abbracciare” i propri beniamini veramente da vicino o respirare un po’ di “odore di rally” per la prima volta.

Un momento come questo quei bambini lo racconteranno ad altri bambini, lo porteranno con se nel tempo, non lo scorderanno mai.

Faranno di quel momento il momento del loro rincorrere i rally nel mondo e ditemi voi se tutto questo non somiglia ad una strada che porta dritta verso il futuro.

Every day we ask ourselves about the current state of rallying, desperately searching for a solution to ensure the future of our beloved sport. We think about regulations. We think about the media. We think about drivers and co-drivers. We think about everything and nothing seems to really work.

And yet there is a man who has been doing a bit of rallying for some time, and who plants the seed of the future of rallying every day.

His name is Colin Clark, he’s Scottish, and he’s one of the leading names at Dirtfish.

In his Twitter profile bio he presents himself as follows:

In one hundred and fifty-nine characters he explains the essence of what I think it makes sense to do when talking about rallying. Offering a vision, with the aim of informing today’s fans and building tomorrow’s fans.

To look for particular characters and facets that make the telling of rallies something interesting, beyond a few spectacular passages that are interesting by nature but that are the matter of those who have already had the opportunity to know the rallies. Telling the story of rallies more for the side dish than for the sporting aspect itself to underline the more genuine human dimension.

I used to follow him when I watched rallies, I observe him now that I try to narrate them and I remain fascinated by his ability to see beyond. To transform a simple outline into the true essence of the story. With lightness, yes, but without superficiality. Simple? Definitely yes. Obvious? Certainly not, considering the modus operandi of many who are entrusted with the same task of spreading the beauty of rallies around the world. The ass immersed in the rallies and not on a comfortable seat in a press room. To unearth all the beauty that there is in a wonderful event, several days long, during which anything can happen.

Even that of being able to “hug” your favourites really close up or breathe in a bit of “rally smell” for the first time.

 

A moment like this those children will tell other children about, they will carry it with them in time, they will never forget it.

They will make that moment the moment of their own rallying around the world and you tell me if all this doesn’t resemble a road leading straight into the future.
